A juggernaut is defined as any large, relentless and destructive force. The beginning of this work characterizes that force with it’s extremely driving and aggressive quality. This material eventually works itself out (it self-destructs), and in the wake of this ‘juggernaut’ an uplifting lyric section, which has attempted to assert itself two previous times without total success, is finally realized and concludes the work. Juggernaut (1997/2005) was commissioned by Jeremy Justeson and the first version of the work (it has since been revised) is featured on his first CD, Juggernaut.
