Moody Garden

excerpt

Moody Garden (1994) mimics the sounds of the rainforest and was the winner of a 1994 Composers Competition sponsored by Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX, one of the premier educational/leisure facilities in the Southwest. The competition was conceived for the purpose of drawing attention to the plight of the world’s rainforests, which continue to be destroyed at an alarming rate, and to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Moody Gardens Rainforest Pyramid Complex that contains more than 1,700 exotic plant and animal species from the rainforests of Asia, the tropical Americas and Africa. “Moody Garden” received it’s premiere by members of the Round Top Festival Orchestra in Galveston, TX on March 25, 1994.
