Exultation (2011) was written for members of the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra for their annual concert to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), and is based on an Emily Dickinson text:

EXULTATION is the going
Of an inland soul to sea,
Past the houses, past the headlands,
Into deep eternity!
Bred as we, among the mountains,
Can the sailor understand
The devine intoxication
Of the first league out from land?
