The title Pendulum (2015) refers to the oscillating nature of the main materials of this work. The opening series of major chords that move around the ensemble, each scored in a different section of the band, and the primary melodic material of this work, used for the fast and slow sections, circle around the tonic and bounce around the ensemble, much as a pendulum swings back and forth. It was commissioned by Susan Leffler, in memory of Mr. William Leffler, and the Scarsdale Middle School for the Scarsdale Middle School Eighth Grade Band, Nicholas Lieto, director.
